In Class Exercise-my logo

1. Do a few searches on your favorite brands, notice what stands out to you about their logo/brand identity. Make a list of what visual elements you are drawn to. - I  really like bolder shapes that are simplified 2. Do some general searches on common logos. Make a list of what elements stand out to you (positively or negatively) - when there are gradients on shapes, I tend to not like them as much. 3. Make a list of all the nicknames you have had in your life choose one or two to make a personal logo. - I haven't really had many nicknames because my name is so short. However a family friend calls me peanut so I will base my project on that.

Response to Vandals or Visionaries

When it comes to street art, I believe there is a difference between art and destruction. After seeing a large amount of street art and reading about it, I still am not sure if I am against or for it. On one hand, there are beautiful murals that bring color to very blank walls. This is a way that people who are not in the arts, can be exposed to it. On the other hand, in some situations art can simply be destructive. I feel as though a lot of the 'art' on the streets are just people tagging buildings or maybe even writing inappropriate things on them. Some art is just defacement. So I guess I could define my opinion as this; street art is beautiful when it is done tastefully and with permission.

1.  How do you feel about the overall outcome of this piece in relation to your art making process?      I am pretty happy with my final outcome of this piece. I definitely did struggle because I am not the best when it comes to photoshop art. However, I feel as though my message is very clear and my piece shows that art is somewhat of an escape for me.  2.  In what way did you integrate your personal art practice into this project?     The main way I integrated my personal art into this piece is by retracing my sketches from my drawing class into my piece to represent my figure. I used the Wacom tablet and drew over my picture to give the drawing more contrast.  3.  How did you challenge yourself creatively, conceptually and/or technically  in the making of this piece?     To be completely honest, this piece was a challenge for me overall because I was only able to use photoshop.
